Brake's Giant Walk
Sun 31 May 2015On Wednesday 10 June 2015 at 10am, our school and your child will be joining thousands of children across the UK who are celebrating the wonders of walking by taking part in Brake's Giant Walk, supported by Brantano. This annual event is a fantastic way for children to put their best feet forwards for road safety: to say "yes!" to the health and planet-saving benefits of walking, and "no!" to fast driving that threatens children’s safety.
As part of our involvement in the event, we’ll also be running activities about road safety with your children. We feel that road safety is a great subject in which to engage children. It's a subject even the youngest children know something about because everyone uses roads, and road danger impacts on everyone. It’s also a vitally important subject. Danger from traffic is a big factor in whether children and young people are able to walk and cycle to school, to the park or to see friends, and therefore their ability to be healthy and socially active. By taking part in Brake’s Giant Walk, we’ll be teaching children important safety lessons, as well as giving children a voice, helping them tell drivers to slow down and look out for people on foot and bike around their school.

Easter Hat Competition
Thu 02 Apr 2015What an amazing response to our Easter hat competition today. There were so many wonderful creations and the hall looked fantastic when everyone came in for the prize-giving. A big thank you to everyone who took part, all parents and friends who helped in the making and, of course, a massive thank you to Mrs Jennings and the school council who organised it all and had to make incredibly difficult decisions when choosing the winners.
Shall we do something similar at Harvest? What do you think?

Jack the Kitman meets Jack the Kitman!
Fri 13 Feb 2015Jack from Year 6 has been helping all the teachers who run sports teams to collect in kits and make sure they are clean ready for next time. We thought it would be nice to see how it's done at one of the world's leading football teams so Jack and some of his friends visited Spotland, home of Rochdale, and met Jack Northover, aka Jack the Kitman. We had a great time, looking around the changing rooms, visiting Jack's special kit room, sitting in the dugouts and we even met Rhys Bennett who's injured at the moment. Everyone got an away shirt and goody bag and Jack even got a home shirt too. A big thank you to Jack Northover for giving up his time and also to Leighanne Coyle who showed us around and answered a barrage of questions all afternoon!
