Summer Term Report

Our Planet Protectors have had another fantastic term, leading a range of projects to improve our school environment and encourage everyone to care for nature.

Big School Clean 2026

This term, the Planet Protectors proudly led our participation in the Big School Clean 2026. Armed with litter pickers and bags, they worked together to remove litter from around the school grounds and encouraged others to take pride in keeping our environment clean.

Their enthusiasm, teamwork and determination showed that every small action can make a big difference. The children were excellent role models, demonstrating how we can all help to protect our planet.

Creating a Pollinator-Friendly School

The Planet Protectors have continued to improve our school grounds by planting a range of flowers and plants in the Quad to increase biodiversity. These carefully chosen plants will provide valuable habitats and food sources for bees, butterflies and other important pollinators, helping to create a thriving outdoor environment for wildlife.

Growing Our Own Food

Our vegetable garden has flourished this term, with the children growing a variety of organic vegetables. It was particularly exciting to see some of our harvest used by the school kitchen as part of our school lunches, allowing the children to enjoy food they had helped to grow themselves while learning about sustainable food production.

Improving Recycling

The Planet Protectors carried out a review of our school's recycling systems to identify ways we can reduce waste and recycle more effectively. They have shared their ideas with staff and are looking forward to helping implement improvements across the school next year.

Fundraising for Wildlife

Earlier this year, the Planet Protectors successfully raised money by growing and selling sunflowers at our Spring Fair. Thanks to the fantastic support from our school community, we have raised funds to purchase a wildlife camera. This exciting addition will allow us to observe the animals that visit our school grounds and help us learn even more about the wildlife living around us.

We are incredibly proud of everything the Planet Protectors have achieved this year. Through their enthusiasm, hard work and commitment to protecting the environment, they have inspired others to care for our school, support local wildlife and make sustainable choices. We look forward to seeing what exciting projects they will lead next year!
