Our KS1 children thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic visit from Wild Science, bringing their classroom learning to life through hands-on experiences. The children explored different animal classifications, linking perfectly to their science learning, and many were brave enough to hold a real snake!
They also investigated printing techniques, created their own mud slime, and explored the reactions of different materials through exciting scientific investigations. It was a fun-filled day packed with curiosity, discovery and memorable learning experiences.
Summer Tuck Shop
A very special treat this week as we cooled down in the best way possible with a visit from the ice cream van!

Curriculum Enrichment Day
What a fantastic day of imagination, storytelling and talk! The day was focussed on developing oracy through creative, engaging experiences.
Throughout the day, our children immersed themselves in exciting activities that encouraged them to think, speak, listen and collaborate. They explored storytelling by:
- Creating compelling characters, places and problems
- Using “Let’s Say…” activities to develop speaking and listening skills
- Bringing stories to life through freeze frames and role play
- Taking on different jobs, roles and responsibilities within a narrative
- Using imagery and visual prompts to spark ideas
Developing curiosity and creativity through meaningful storytelling
It was wonderful to see every classroom buzzing with discussion, imagination and confidence as our children used their voices to share ideas, solve problems and create incredible stories together.
Year 3 trip to the Yorkshire Coal Mine Museum
Year 3 had a fantastic day on their trip to the Yorkshire Coal Mining Museum! The children explored the museum grounds and learned all about life as a miner. They discovered the important role canaries played in keeping miners safe and visited the miners' locker rooms. During an exciting workshop, the children investigated different types of sedimentary rocks and the sediments that form them. They even had the opportunity to create their own fossils, bringing their science learning to life!
To finish the day, the children visited the pit ponies and experienced the Time Tunnel - a fascinating journey through mining history. It was very dark, very informative, and a memorable way to end a wonderful trip!
Pirate Day
Reception had a fantastic Pirate Day filled with adventure and excitement! The children worked together to build their very own pirate ship, bravely walked the plank, and created treasure maps before following clues to discover hidden treasure. They also enjoyed pirate colouring activities, made their own pirate hats, and took part in a "Trash or Treasure" phonics challenge, reading real and nonsense words to help sort the loot. To finish their day of swashbuckling fun, the children shared a wonderful pirate picnic together.

They enjoyed a river walk to the source of the River Tame (Hull Brook), where they took part in some mindfulness activities and made "rush boats" to sail on the water. The children also visited the Roman Fort, went pond-dipping and caught lots of tadpoles, before finishing the day with some well-earned time in the play area. A wonderful day of outdoor learning and exploration!
Year 5 Trip
Our Year 5 children enjoyed a fascinating visit to a recycling centre in Manchester, where they learned which materials can be recycled in our household bins and how they are sorted at the plant.
During the tour, they discovered that Oldham's recycling rate is currently 43%, the second lowest in Greater Manchester. The children were eager to discuss how we can all make positive changes to improve this figure and help protect our planet. It was a valuable experience that helped them better understand the importance of recycling and the difference we can all make.

Our Reception children had a fun filled experience at Imagine That Museum. The children experienced an interactive guide of art and science through four different zones of imagination and exploration. The pictures say it all!
