Marvellous Mountains
We are enjoying studying the mountains of the world as well as learning about the physical features of mountains.
Did you know that there are five different types of mountains? One of our activities was to collaborate in small groups to find out information about them. The results are below.
Mountains will also feature in our Easter spelling bee. Here are the details:
Round 1: common exception words (in your planner)
Round 2: common exception words (no chances)
Round 3: the seven summits and their ranges
Round 4: the mountain ranges of Europe
For round 3, we will use the Messner list of mountains:
You will need to revise their ranges too. You can find these online or in your Humanities book.
These are the mountain ranges of Europe we will use if we need a round four:
Pyrenees, Carpathians, Urals, Alps, Scandinavian, Apennines and Balkans.

World War One
Our first topic is World War One. We are learning about its causes, where the fighting took place, life in the trenches, life back home, how propaganda was used and how the Treaty of Versailles eventually led to the origins of World War Two. Here are some interesting websites about our topic:
