Pancake Flipping Event
On Friday our children had an absolutely wonderful time at our Pancake Flip event! From the first toss to the final flip, there were smiles, laughter and plenty of impressive pancake flipping skills on display. No matter the outcome, every child showed great enthusiasm and confidence. Well done to all our amazing pancake flippers!
Our Year 6 Writers
Our brilliant writers are at it again! This week, our talented Year 6 children proudly shared their powerful natural disaster stories with our Year 5 pupils. Their writing was full of drama, detail and imagination
It was wonderful to see our older pupils reading with such confidence and expression, inspiring the younger children with their creativity and storytelling skills. We are so proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by everyone involved. What fantastic young authors we have at our school!
Valentine's Tuck Shop
Our School Councillors hosted a special Valentine’s Tuck Shop today and it was a HUGE success! We’re so proud of our councillors for their hard work, teamwork and brilliant organisation Thank you to everyone who supported and made it such a fantastic event!
Children's Mental Health Week
This week, our children have been proudly taking part in a range of activities led by our Wellbeing Champions, all inspired by this year’s theme, “This Is My Place.”
The children explored what makes our school a place where they feel safe, valued, and happy. One of the activities was creating their own “happy place”, designing and sharing spaces (real or imagined) where they feel calm, confident, and completely themselves.
National Storytelling Week
What a fantastic week we’ve had celebrating Storytelling Week across the school! The children threw themselves into a wonderful range of storytelling activities and showed just how magical stories can be. Some classes brought in and shared their favourite books from home, while others were introduced to a new author each day, sparking lots of curiosity and excitement about reading. Our Year 5 children worked collaboratively to tell different parts of a story, bringing it together in a truly creative way. Thank you for your continued support promoting a love of reading at home and in school.
A Rowing Success!
We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils who represented Rushcroft at a rowing competition on Tuesday - and what a performance it was!
The team did absolutely brilliantly, with some outstanding results:
1st place in the Boys’ Relay
1st place in the Girls’ Individual
3rd place in the Boys’ Individual
These amazing achievements are a real credit to the children’s hard work, teamwork and determination. We couldn’t be happier with their oar-inspiring efforts and success! A huge well done to everyone involved. You represented Rushcroft superbly.
Year 3 Myth Magic!
Last week, our amazing Year 3 children proudly shared their myth writing with Year 6 - and wow! The stories were imaginative, creative and confidently presented. Year 6 were fantastic listeners and gave some brilliant encouragement too. We’re so proud of our young authors and the wonderful learning shared across year groups!
RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch
Our Planet Protectors have been busy making apple bird feeders to help encourage a wider variety of birds into our environment and to provide them with a natural, high-energy food source. This activity was part of our preparation for the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch.
Dodgeball Victory
We came. We dodged. We conquered. Our dodgeball team brought the focus and the teamwork on Tuesday - and it paid off with a tournament victory! We couldn’t be prouder of this group.
Mayoral Visit
Our School Councillors had a very special visit to the Mayor in his new Mayoral Chambers. The children impressed us all with their insightful questions, enjoyed a guided tour of the new facilities and even had the chance to relax with a drink and a biscuit in the Mayor’s office. A huge thank you to Mayor Moores and the Mayoress for being such wonderful hosts and for making the children feel so welcome.
