Year 5 visit Jodrell Bank

Our Year 5s had an out-of-this-world day at Jodrell Bank! They explored the amazing outdoor exhibits and beautiful grounds. The children loved following the Telescope Pathway and discovering fun facts at each stop. Of course, no trip would be complete without studying the iconic Lovell Telescope. A fantastic day filled with curiosity, teamwork and lots of learning.

Book Swap Bonanza!

Our children had a fantastic time at the book swap! It was wonderful to see so many children excited to discover new stories and share their old favourites with friends. A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped spread the joy of reading!

📚 Michael Rosen Day 📚

Rushcroft had an amazing time celebrating Michael Rosen Day, with the hilarious theme of ‘Funny Food!’ The highlight of our day was joining a live call with Michael Rosen himself - what an incredible experience! The children loved listening to him perform some of his famous poems, full of fun, rhythm and laughter.  Inspired by his creativity, our children then took part in their own activities, creating fantastic pieces of writing and poetry all about funny food and imaginative meals! A huge thank you to Michael Rosen for inspiring our young writers and reminding us all how joyful and playful language can be!

World Kindness Day!

Children celebrated World Kindness Day by thinking about all the ways we can show kindness to others, and remembering the times when others have been kind to us. Our children took part in fun and thoughtful activities, sharing stories, writing kind messages and reflecting on how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. It was wonderful to see so many smiles and caring hearts around our school today.

Footballers

Rushcroft took part in a tournament as part of the Crompton House Cluster, an annual event that provides children with opportunities to participate in a range of sports and represent the school throughout the year. The cluster aims to promote inclusivity by ensuring that all children - regardless of ability or gender - are introduced to a variety of sporting activities. As part of this commitment, events are organised for girls, boys, children with SEND, those who may find transitions challenging and those who may lack the confidence to volunteer for competitive events. Inclusion events are therefore a key feature of the cluster’s approach to fostering participation and enjoyment for all.

Remembrance Day

Our Year 6 children visited the Cenotaph in Shaw to place our school poppy wreath.

 🎃🕸️ Rushcroft Halloween Disco! 👻

A huge thank you to our amazing PTA for hosting this year’s Halloween Disco - it was a frightfully good evening from start to finish! 🧙‍♀️💃The children had a fang-tastic time dancing the night away, showing off their brilliant costumes and enjoying plenty of treats and tunes. 🎶🍬It was a wickedly wonderful evening full of fun, laughter and spooky smiles! 👏🎃

🎃 Halloween Tuck Shop Fun at Rushcroft! 👻

Our children had a spook-tacular time at the Halloween Tuck Shop hosted by the School Council today! 🧁🍪 There were plenty of tasty treats on offer. A huge well done to our brilliant School Council for organising such a fun (and slightly spooky!) event — and thank you to everyone who came along to enjoy the Halloween goodies. 👏🎃🕸️

🎙️ Rushcroft Radio Writing Enrichment Day! 📻
Last week, our classrooms were transformed into the buzzing studios of Rushcroft Radio Station, as the children became scriptwriters and presenters for the day! ✍️🎧 Each year group took on a different challenge and what an amazing day of creativity it was!
🥀Year 6 explored the power of poetry, studying famous WWI poems to inspire their own moving pieces. They experimented with figurative language, repetition and rhythm before performing and recording their own wartime poems.
⚔️ Year 5 became Viking poets, writing and performing fierce battle poems for a special History Hour broadcast. They even took on new Viking names and used runes to decipher their writing tasks inside a classroom longship!
🦁 Year 4 debated whether animals should be kept in zoos, crafting balanced arguments and performing their discussions for the radio. The highlight? Visiting their very own classroom zoo!
🐘 Year 3 joined in with the Rushcroft Zoo theme too, writing persuasive radio adverts to convince listeners to come and visit!
🦸‍♀️Key Stage One trained hard at a Superhero Academy! They designed their own costumes, made superhero snacks, completed an obstacle course and wrote a recount of their super-powered day!
👮‍♀️ Reception wrote labels for the People Who Help Us and talked about what they do - before drawing what they’d like to be when they grow up!
🎧 To hear some of the fantastic recordings from the day, head over to the class pages on our school website - you won’t want to miss our talented Rushcroft broadcasters in action!

Year 6 Residential Trip to France

Our Year 6 pupils have had an unforgettable week in France! After a smooth ferry crossing, the children settled in brilliantly - full of energy and excitement from the very start.

We kicked things off with a crêpe-making evening, setting the tone for a week packed with fun and adventure. Throughout the trip, pupils took part in a wide range of activities, including town trails, market exploring, axe throwing, frisbee golf, buggy building, and swimming.

A highlight was our day out in town, where we enjoyed the local sights and markets before heading to Disneyland Paris - a truly magical experience! We also explored iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the River Seine, giving everyone a real taste of French culture.

The trip wrapped up with some memorable moments - from a lively silent disco and trying escargot, to a reflective visit at Vimy Ridge and a warm campfire evening .

It was an incredible week of learning, laughter and lasting memories.
