Community Learning
Community Work!
We do a lot in our local community and we try our best to support those in our neighbourhood.
Here is a flavour of what we get up to...
- Charity fundraising for various worthy causes
- Visiting homes for the elderly
- Collecting items to replenish toys and food for a local animal rescue shelter
- Collecting food for the local food bank
- Visiting the Mayor
Visiting the Mayor
We had an insightful morning visiting the Mayor, we sat in the Mayoral Chambers and asked questions to the Mayor. We then had a tour of the Chambers and signed the Mayoral Guest Book!
As the Mayor's office has recently relocated, we were also lucky enough to have a tour of some of the galleries. We looked at some fantastic artwork, including the famous local artist Lowry, and learned about the history of Oldham and its impact during the Industrial Revolution.
We got a good insight as to what it would be like to be in one of these roles, we also found out what they do for our town of Oldham. We asked the Mayor lots of questions, as well as finding out how we could become the Youth Mayor or Mayor one day!
