In Christies class we use deep breathing as a way of calming and grounding ourselves between different activities quite often. The children are excellent at counting 5 deep breaths as a simple mindfulness exercise - why not ask your child to do you a demonstration?
How to explain mindfulness to young kids?
Mindfulness is simply… noticing what is happening right now. Mindfulness is taking notice of how your body feels and what you see, smell and taste.
Below are a section of simple mindfulness activities you can complete with your child at anytime you might need them. You may find them especially useful in times of anxiety, worry, anger, giddiness or extreme emotion.
