Rory visits Rushcroft

This week, as part of our Animals topic, Rory came to Year 1 to visit with his owner Mrs Reeve. Rory is a bearded dragon and he came so that we could learn about reptiles. We felt his bumpy thick camoulflaged skin and learnt that this would enable him to hide in his native land. The children learnt that reptiles ( Rory is a reptile!) have cold blood and need to warm up by basking in the sun ( Rory uses a heat lamp as well) The children enjoyed seeing Rory and learnt a lot about him from Mrs Reeve. Following his visit the children all wrote a non chronological report about him using the facts they could remember.
