What a great start to the new half term! Year 3 have started a new topic 'Mystery and Adventure' and have thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Where The Wild Things Are' this week. We wrote about the main character Max, and began designing our own Wild Things in our art work. In Maths we have been creating books on the iPads all about doubling and halving. The children are excellent at using Book Creator and can now include pictures, sounds, videos and text.
This week Year 4 made a times table rap to help us learn our 6 times tables. We had lots of fun coming up with different ideas for it.
This week in year 5 we have been learning all about newspaper reports. We have been planning a newspaper report about Humpty Dumpty and our ideas have really impressed Miss Groome. Humpty Dumpty got into his egg-tastophe for many different reasons..some think he was impressing his girlfriend, some fear he was drunk, others think that the kings horses pushed him off! Hopefully our ideas will turn into fantastic articles next week. We have been measuring and drawing angles this week and some of us have been guessing missing angles without using a protractor! We are currently learning all about Edvard Munch and his style of artwork. This week we had to use oil pastels to re-create part of his very famous 'Scream' picture.
It was lovely to see Mrs Wiswell in class on Friday and we are very excited about the Mexico day she has planned for us in a couple of weeks. We've started our letters of complaint to Mr Fawlty and are developing a fine line in sarcasm. PE on Friday was fun and proves that just because it's raining, we can still get fit and healthy and enjoy ourselves in the hall. Finally, most people now have a blog up and running and we hope this will be an excellent way to communicate with each other over the year.
