We have been writing shape poems this week in Year 3. We started by writing words into shapes that resemble their meaning and moved on to writing full poems. We listened to and watched rain storms and drew an image to write our poems on to. The children used onomatopoeia in their poems excellently! We were solving problems in maths by adding several numbers together. The children also really impressed Mrs. Sheridan when they did a dance session with her on Friday!
We started the week by impressing Miss Mears with our knowledge on mountains. Year 4 created a mind map about what we already know and we hope to add to it as we learn more about mountains. In Science we looked at food chains and played the food chain game. We found creating food chains a little harder than we first thought. We also got to make 3D shapes with different properties with Mrs Banham, look at how we got on in the photos below.
In year 5 this week we have been using the grid method to solve multiplication problems. Well done to Emmaleigh, Natalie, Thomas, Molly, Katie, Michael and Georgia for taking on the teaching role, modelling how to multiply decimals to another group of children. In English we have been planning stories for our own Viking gods - they look really exciting and Miss Groome can't wait to see what we write next week. We have also started sewing our own Viking gods. A few pictures are below.
Mrs Jones was very impressed with our ideas for fundraising and why we think charities are important. We have begun to investigate co-ordinates in maths and have finished writing our recounts about some of the momentous happenings during Aztec times. We all have a better idea how search engines work thanks to our friends at Google.
