Last week we measured the different bones in our skeletons and sketched some animal art inspired by Van Gogh, Picasso and Franz Marc. Next week we will look at animal skeletons and paint an animal, which we have already sketched. Pictures below.
Last week in art we learned all about the three primary colours: red, yellow and blue. This week, we learned about the secondary and tertiary colours which can be made by just using those three colours. It was fun and thank you to Mrs Jennings for organising it. Pictures are below.
We've been looking at the role of a mechanical engineer recently and this week we got to interview one! We all really enjoyed our visit from Will, who was a mechanical engineer before he retired. We found Will's job incredibly interesting; it involved design, making and problem solving.
Some of our questions for Will were:
Q - What inspired you to become a mechanical engineer?
Will's answer - His dad because he'd also been an engineer and together they used to fix things, like the car.
Q - Were you ever unsuccessful with an idea?
Will's answer - All the time but you never give up trying.
Q - What subjects do you need to be good at?
Will's answer - English, Maths, Science, Drawing
Q - What was your best invention?
Will's answer - A control panel used to operate two engines simultaneously
