Year 3 have been investigating fractions this week. We started looking at halves. the children displayed their understanding with a range of models and then had to explain their reasoning to prove they had definitely found half. The children decided that they wanted to research the Lochness Monster as part of our Myths and Legends work and they found some very interesting facts. We also got to work on making some play props for our performance of ''Aladdin Trouble''.
Well done everybody for learning the rap and performing it so well. Thanks to Angela and Ellie-Kate for working out all the moves too. A lot of people were talking about it afterwards and were very impressed. It was nice to see our visitors to Mahdlo have such a great time and it was also nice to hear them sound so grateful to the adults who took them. A good week!
In year 5 this week we have been looking at poetry by Michael Rosen, we have discovered that not all poetry rhymes and that it can be very amusing! We are working very hard to finish building Beijing and Shanghai ready for our giant China map at the end of term. In maths we have been looking at ratio and continued our times table raps.
This week we have been looking at doubling and halving in Year 4. We then used our knowledge to compete against each other in a doubling and halving game. Year 4 have also been working hard to create different props for the Year 3/4 Easter play. See a photo below of a backdrop we made.
This week at Dunwood park, we made journey sticks which represented our time at forest skills and the journey to school. We listened carefully to a fire safety talk - ready for using the Kelly kettle next week.
