Year 3 have finished labelling the pasta skeletons, they are ready to be displayed. The children are enjoying their weekly swimming lessons at the Middleton Arena with Starfish, we received an email complimenting the children on their behaviour and attitude. Lots of stickers are being given out for reading and spelling work, the children have also been improving their comprehension skills by reading shape poems and answering questions about them. In Maths we have been learning about volume and capacity, measuring and comparing using ml and L. See photos below. Soon we will be learning about money.
We've had a very productive week and have learned lots. In maths, we've started multiplying three numbers together as well as learning about the commutative law when multiplying. We've started to write our stories based on the Hamelin story and have revised how to spell "their", "there" and "they're" until we're blue in the face. We're enjoying hockey with Mr Ireland and we all hope we're picked for the tournament next month. Pictures of our science lessons are below.
This week in maths we have started to look at fractions. We have been learning how to read and recognise both improper fractions and mixed numbers. We will then move onto looking at equivalent fractions.
In our class band we have flutes, cornets, saxophones and trombones. This week we have all played 'The Marching Along Song'. The photos below show some of us playing an improvised piece in a Jazz style - it takes a lot of courage to play individual improvisation but we had a good audience!
