In English this week we have been looking at different Dreamtime stories from Australia. We have enjoyed learning about all the different Australian animals and their characteristics. In P.E we have been improving our hockey skills, learning how to run with the ball and how to shoot into nets. Mr Ireland and Miss Mears are really pleased with our determination to improve!
This week in year 5, we have been rapping our times tables and looking at factors, square numbers and prime numbers. We made several investigations and found lots of patterns! In Science we looked at Newton's 3rd law of motion and Miss Groome was really impressed with our explanations of why balls stopped going up when we threw them. We have learnt a little about the Viking longships and started making our own fleet. We are hoping to sail them at some point, or even stage a Viking funeral!
We learnt about the difference between series and parallel circuits in science and understand why certain Christmas lights stop working as soon as one bulb blows. We have had our first music lesson with Miss Latus and well done to Haneira for earning the secret pupil award. Mrs Jones was impressed with some of our contributions in Religion and we had an interesting discussion about charities.
This week in year 3 we have started our topic "Diwali". We have read and watched the story of Rama and Sita and have begun to retell it in our own words through a comic strip. We also started learning about light and shadow in science and thoroughly enjoyed our first brass band lesson with Mr.Leedale.
We also had a visitor in Year 3 this week. A tortoise called Izzy came to meet the children. We made books about her on the iPads and thought of questions we would like to ask. We wrote describing words about her and the children decided to stick them into the shape of a tortoise on the board so we decided to write a shape poem.
