We really had a brilliant time at the Oldham Sixth Form Centre with Mrs Nuttall where we learned so much about electricity. We began by experimenting with making simple circuits. After this, we moved on to making switches and then we learned about series circuits when we made traffic lights. We also made electromagnets and finished the day by making a pairs game which would only work if the correct options were chosen. It was fun and we learned a lot. Thank you to Mrs Nuttall for all her hard work!
This week in year 4 we have continued our poetry, looking at how to create an image in the readers head and also how to include words that rhyme. We have continued learning different ways to complete addition sums, with some of us marking some work that Mrs Spence did for us! We managed to spot the questions that were incorrect and give her advice for how to improve next time. In History, we have learnt a little but about the Roman invasion of Britain and we have been researching coins and Roman numerals. In maths, we have worked together to complete a 100 square of Roman numerals and we will be putting these on some Roman coins in the future. In Science, we have been looking at what causes sound, following on to make 'sound makers' which can be seen in the photos below.Well done to Stevie who made a fantastic one, which was extremely loud!
This week Year 3 have been continuing our work on poetry. We looked at incorporating similes into our poems, as well as onomatopoeic words and improving our vocabulary by using a thesaurus to find synonyms for over-used words. In maths we have been solving addition calculations using empty number lines. In our computing sessions we found out about how to create strong passwords and how to keep the, safe. We then made our own 'Password Raps' which you can find below.
