On Monday we had a visitor who told us all about World War I. We acted out different scenes and even learnt a song that the soldiers would sing. Year 4 was lucky enough to have another visitor on Thursday too. Dave, who works for United Utilities, came to talk to us about the water cycle and how we can reduce water waste.
We have had a very busy week! We also were lucky enough to learn all about WW1 and the water cycle. As well as this we have started making our Christmas lanterns! We had to be very careful as we use hacksaws to cut wood! We also learnt all about why we have night and day and why we have seasons here on Earth. It was really interesting and helped us make sense of why summer is warmer!
Our periscopes worked!! OK, probably best not to have them sticking out of a submarine, but we achieved our objectives and that's the main thing. Interestingly, some of us somehow managed to make periscopes that allow us to see what's behind. These were quickly called scopeperis. In fact, Monday in general was a great day: some heartbreakingly beautiful poetry was written and in the afternoon we did lots of fun drama which helped us think about World War 1 and the sacrifices made by our soldiers.
