Well done to Grace, Owen and Thomas who were elected as school councillors by their peers this week. They have already got lots of ideas for fund-raising but if you have some, let them know.
Don't forget your permission slips for our science trip on Friday. It promises to be a very interesting day and we will all return with a much better understanding of electricity.
Finally, good luck to everyone picked for cross country next Saturday.
This week year 3 have been busy improving our creative writing. Specifically we have focused on writing poems about diva lamps, which links to our current topic of Diwali. After learning about features such as similes and adverbs which make our writing more interesting to read we worked to create and improve our poems, before producing a finished shape poem at the end of the week. You can see some of them in the pictures below.
In maths we have been looking at place value and developing our understanding of the values of the different digits in 2 and 3 digit numbers. What a busy week!
Our first full week in school was a busy one! We started looking at poems that create images in your head and read a very funny one called 'Daddy fell into the pond'. We thought about how it made us feel and drew up a bank of adjectives and phrases to add description. From this, we turned a verse into a descriptive paragraph and well done to Hannah who included similes and a subordinate clause in hers. In Maths we have been working on place value and addition. Check out the pictures below for our 'place value museums'.
