Map making in Year 2

Have you ever tried to draw a map? It is quite tricky to make sure you include details which will enable the map reader to be able to understand the points of reference so that they will understand your map! We certainly found that out today in our outside geography lesson. We thought back to our historical study the works of James Cooke mapping the coastline of Newfoundland at the start of his illustrious career. We appreciated the difficulties he would have faced especially without the benefits of modern technology... and we only mapped the school grounds!
