We really enjoyed using the VR headsets on Tuesday and it has inspired us to produce some very effective descriptive passages about the things we might experience if we were floating in space. In science, we carried out a whole-class experiment about volume: we bounced a ball from lots of different heights and took the mode of the results to see if the volume got louder, the higher we bounced the ball. The results weren't conclusive but in general we think the volume did get louder.
In year 3 this week we have started writing our own persuasive letters to Mrs Sheridan to ask her for things that we feel we need in our school. Mrs Spence is really impressed with our ideas such as: a stress relief area, a swimming pool, a gym and even a museum! In Maths we have started measuring things using cm, m and km. Our measuring skills are pretty good, so we have also been converting these measurements. We were lucky enough to experience space this week too! A man called Johnny came to see us with virtual reality headsets and we were able to explore the solar system and learn about the different planets. It was really cool and so we wrote some persuasive adverts to sell houses on different planets. In Science we investigated the strength of different magnets to see if bigger magnets are stronger - why don't you ask one of us what we found out!
