This week in year 3 we have completed our first chapter in our Maths books and have learnt lots about place value and have started practicing our 4 times table. We are learning all about King Midas and his golden touch in English and have started to look at Ancient Egypt, we travelled through time by over 5000 years to get there! We went swimming on Tuesday for the second time. Many of us haven't swum much before and were very nervous last week. Mrs Spence was really impressed with us this week as we had beaming smiles on our faces and were much more confident in the water!
Year 4 have made a great start to the year. We've done lots already and have settled into our new classroom very quickly. We would like to welcome Bethany to our class. It's to Year 4's credit that she's already settled in and feels part of the school. Below are some pictures from our recent art lesson on colour wheels with Mrs Jennings.
The children have settled well into Year 5 and I have been very impressed with their enthusiasm to learn! In Science this week we watched a short clip of Stargazing presented by Professor Brian Cox and Dara O'Briain. We used the programme to generate questions of our own about space and the planets in our solar system. We then used the internet to research some of the answers.
In music we have been playing a samba rhythm using notes B# and C, F and G, E and D. Some of us were brave enough to play to the whole class!
