The School Council has had a busy two weeks whilst supporting Fair Trade Fortnight.
Raising awareness of fair trade began with our guest speaker, Ann Watkins, who came from a fair trade group in Stockport. She spoke to the children in assembly and explained what fair trade was about.
Then the School Council held their own assembly where they told the other children what they had learned about fair trade during their own research and which websites were useful for children to use when doing their own investigations. They also unveiled the fair trade toy sale which was a great success, so much so that we sold out of the toys in two days and had to order some more! Thanks to all the children who bought toys from our stalls.
Watch this space to find out how much money we raised for School Council funds whilst helping vulnerable families around the world.
Tuesday morning was busy as our coffee morning, The Big Brew, got underway raising an amazing £85 which will be doubled with the government’s donation. This money will go to help smallholder farmers and their families. Thank you to everyone who popped in to support this worthwhile event.
